CHAPTER 2

The rain continued to pour relentlessly over Indarpuri, washing the streets in layers of shimmering water. Dhruvi sat at the breakfast table, her mind still lingering on the conversation with her mother. She watched as her siblings bickered over the last piece of toast, a faint smile creeping onto her lips. In that moment, the worries of the world felt distant, and the sounds of laughter filled the air.

“Did you hear that?” Krish suddenly exclaimed, his eyes wide with excitement. “There’s a rumor that Rehaan Mehra is visiting Indarpuri this week!”

Niharika’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “What if he comes to our college? I’d love to see that arrogant CEO in person!”

Dhruvi’s heart skipped a beat. She had heard stories about Rehaan Mehra—the ruthless businessman known for his sharp wit and unforgiving nature. But what would he be doing in their small town? The thought intrigued her, but she pushed it aside, reminding herself of her responsibilities with the NGO.

“Focus on your studies, both of you,” Dhruvi chided gently, her tone firm yet playful. “You don’t want to end up like your friend Niharika.”

Her sister rolled her eyes dramatically, but a smile broke through as they finished breakfast.

[AT MEHRA F&D CORPORATION]

Rehaan sat in his office, staring out at the rain-soaked cityscape. The gunshot from earlier had sent a shiver down his spine. Tension had been rising at the company ever since the theft of their designs, and he couldn't shake the feeling that someone close to him was involved. He turned to his assistant, Tanisha, who entered the room with a stack of files in her hands.

“Sir, we need to discuss the upcoming charity event,” she began, but Rehaan interrupted.

“No, we need to focus on finding the traitor in our midst. I want all employees questioned, starting with the design team.” His voice was cold, and Tanisha nodded, sensing the weight of his frustration.

“Understood. I’ll arrange the meetings,” she replied, her tone respectful but cautious.

As she turned to leave, Rehaan’s eyes fell on a photograph on his desk—a picture of his family, smiling together before everything changed. The loss had hardened him, and his heart ached for a time when love had not felt like a weakness.

---

[AT DHRUVI’S COLLEGE]

The rain finally subsided as Dhruvi and Radhika entered the college campus, the air fresh and invigorating. Radhika, with her vibrant personality, had been the perfect balance to Dhruvi's contemplative nature.

“Did you hear about the CEO coming to town?” Radhika asked, her eyes gleaming. “What if he notices our NGO? Maybe we can convince him to support us!”

Dhruvi shrugged, feeling a mixture of hope and skepticism. “It’s just a rumor. Besides, even if he does come, I doubt someone like him would care about the struggles of our community.”

Just then, a commotion erupted near the entrance, drawing their attention. A crowd had gathered, and whispers filled the air. Dhruvi’s curiosity piqued, she pushed through the throng to find a large banner announcing a charity event hosted by none other than Rehaan Mehra.

“Looks like he’s serious about helping out,” Radhika said, her excitement palpable. “We should definitely participate!”

Dhruvi nodded, her heart racing. This was an opportunity they couldn’t miss. If Rehaan was indeed interested in charity, perhaps she could reach him, share her vision, and make a real difference.

---

[BACK AT MEHRA F&D CORPORATION]

Rehaan stood outside the conference room, his mind racing with thoughts of the charity event. He had reluctantly agreed to support it, but deep down, he felt the weight of his past looming over him. The door swung open, and his team walked out, their faces etched with concern.

“Sir, we’ve identified a few possible suspects regarding the leak,” one of the team members spoke cautiously.

“Good. I want to deal with this quickly and decisively,” Rehaan replied, his voice steely.

Suddenly, his phone buzzed. It was a message from Tanisha: “I’ve arranged the charity event details. Dhruvi Gupta will be there.”

Rehaan’s heart raced. Dhruvi Gupta. He had heard her name whispered in circles—a student with a heart of gold running an NGO. The thought of crossing paths with her stirred something within him—a flicker of curiosity mingled with an emotion he could hardly name.

Rehaan : mujhe iss ladki kaa naam sunkar itni bechaini kyu horhi hai(he mumbled in himself confusingly)...

Keeping his thoughts aside rehaan again engaged himself in his office work.

---

As the day drew to a close, both Dhruvi and Rehaan found themselves standing on opposite sides of a turning point in their lives. The charity event loomed ahead, a chance meeting waiting to unfold. Unbeknownst to them, the rain that had washed over Indarpuri had also washed away the boundaries of their worlds, bringing them closer to a collision that would change everything.

And as the clouds parted, the sun emerged, casting a golden hue over the town—an omen of the challenges and revelations to come.
